Be alert if you drive a vehicle in Delhi and your vehicle does not have a colour-coded fuel type sticker. The Delhi Transport Department has made it clear, at this point, that individuals who disregard this requirement will be fined up to Rs 5,000. Not only this, such vehicles will not even be able to apply for a Pollution Certificate (PUCC).

In fact, the colour-coded sticker to be placed on the vehicle's windshield is part of the High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) order, which came into effect in 2012-13. Since 2019, the stickers have been mandatory for all vehicles, old and new.

Colour-coded stickers identify the fuel type of the vehicle. The colour-coded sticker system is to have identification of vehicles moving on the roads in accordance with fuel type, and is to strengthen pollution controls. Diesel vehicles must have orange stickers in the country, while Petrol vehicles and CNG vehicles must have light blue stickers, while all other vehicles must have grey stickers.
