Citroen has introduced its new Basalt SUV coupe in the Indian market. The company had already released some teasers of Citroen Basalt and its exterior has also been revealed earlier, but now the production-ready version of this SUV coupe has been revealed. The company can launch it sometime in August. Let's know what special has been given to it.

The design is somewhat like that of the C3 Aircross compact SUV. At the front, it comes with V-shaped split LED DRLs and a split grille. Its bumper design has been altered to give the car an identity of its own. It also has a coupe roofline and dual-tone finish alloy wheels. At the back, it features wraparound LED tail lights along with a blacked-out bumper and silver skid plate.

The cabin of the Basalt has been taken from the C3 Aircross. Many impressive dashboard layout designs for dual digital displays and AC vents, as in the Citroen, come in Basalt. White leatherette upholstery is what Citroen had given to it. Here, the Basalt slides the rear seat base further by 87 mm to offer under-thigh support. Along with this, a rear headrest, automatic climate control, and 6 airbags are provided here.

With these, the car is fitted with a 10.25-inch touchscreen system, cabin comfort wireless smartphone charging pad, electrically adjustable ORVMS, steering mounted controls, and cruise control, and the luggage-carrying capacity has been increased to 470L.

Basalt comes with 1.2-liter naturally aspirated and 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engines. The naturally aspirated engine puts out 82 PS of power and 115 Nm of peak torque. It comes with a 5-speed gearbox.

At the same time, the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol makes 110 PS of power and 205 Nm of peak torque. It's offered with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic. When talking about mileage, the availability will be 18 km/liter for NA petrol, 19.5 km/liter for Turbo MT, and 18.7 km/liter for Turbo AT. Though the company has not yet revealed its price, looking at the features, one would have expected that its starting ex-showroom price can be Rs 10 lakh for the Citroen Basalt.
