The Special Investigating Team of the Central Bureau of Investigation has completed the probe into the adulteration in the ghee used in the Tirupati Laddu Prasad. They have filed the final chargesheet in the case in the court. Some employees of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam have been named as accused in the chargesheet.

The charge sheet was filed in the ACB court in Nellore. During the course of the investigation, it was revealed that palm oil, palm kernel oil, and palmolein had been used to manufacture the adulterated ghee. Chemicals such as beta-carotene, acetic acid ester, and artificial ghee flavoring had been added to match the test values and retain the flavor.

It is noteworthy that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had alleged in 2024 that animal fat was used in the preparation of Tirupati Laddus during the tenure of the previous YSRCP government, leading to political controversy and anger among devotees across the country.
