On January 8, K Annamalai, the state head of the Tamil Nadu BJP, got into a fight with young Christians over attending church. Now Dharmapuri police have registered a case against the BJP leader in this matter. At the Bommidi police station in the Dharmapuri district, Dharmapuri police have filed a case against BJP leader K Annamalai under sections 153(A), 504, and 505(2). Annamalai has been accused of instigating enmity on religious grounds between two groups.
BJP State President K Annamalai is carrying out the 'En Mana, En Makkal' Yatra in the state. During this visit, Annamalai reached Mother Mary's Church in Papiredipatti village of Dharmapuri district on January 8 to garland the statue of Mother Mary. On this day, a few young Christians prevented Annamalai from going inside the church. The young person claimed that Manipur is a place where Christians are being killed. When the young people rejected Annamalai's attempts to persuade them, there was a commotion.
After this, the police pushed the young people who had been protesting out of the area, and Annamalai covered the Mother Mary statue. On social media, the video of the discussion between Christian youngsters and BJP state president Annamalai is also becoming popular. A Christian youth can be heard warning Annamalai in this video that "Christian people like us are being killed in Manipur." I am warning you, with folded hands, that you are not allowed to garland the statue since this is a sacred location.
On this, Annamalai explained to the youth that 'the issue in Manipur is not Christians but it is a fight between two tribes. One tribe is against another on the issue of tribal reservation. Both communities include both Hindus and Christians. You have to understand that this is being done for politics. When the youth kept arguing with Annamalai, she said, 'Don't talk like a DMK worker.' The protesting youth expressed displeasure with this and said that he is not a DMK worker. During this, Annamalai said 'Everyone has the right to come to the church and you cannot stop me from coming here.'
