BYD YangWang U9 Xtreme Becomes World’s Fastest Electric Supercar, Breaks Nürburgring Record
BYD YangWang U9 Xtreme: After holding the record for the world's fastest production car, BYD's YangWang U9 electric supercar is once again in the news. This time, it has set a new fastest lap record at Germany's iconic Nurburgring track.
Having previously set the record for the world's quickest production vehicle, BYD's YangWang U9 electric supercar is back in the spotlight. This time, it has established a new quickest lap record at Germany's famous Nurburgring circuit. This special production version, called the U9 Xtreme, is the quickest and most potent version of the electric supercar, lapping the Nordschleife circuit in 6 minutes 59.157 seconds.
With this, it became the globe's first electric super sports car to go under 7 minutes on this track. It beat the Rimac Nevera's record by close to 5 seconds. While quicker electric vehicles have been tested on the track, they are considered prototypes, and as a result, they were not meant for mass sale.
This record run occurred on August 22, 2025, when it was previously known as the YangWang U9 Track Edition. At that time, the car also held the record for being the world's fastest production vehicle. The company later changed its name to the U9 Xtreme, the most powerful version of this electric supercar.
