Volkswagen, one of India's top automobile manufacturers, has put its Virtus up for sale in India. If you make an upfront payment of Rs 2 lakh to buy the base variant of this mid-size sedan, what would be the amount of EMI that you would be required to pay every month?

Volkswagen is offering the Comfortline as the base model of the Virtus. The company is selling the base model of the mid-size sedan at an ex-showroom price of ₹10.50 lakh. If the car is bought in Delhi, the buyer will have to pay the ex-showroom price of ₹10.50 lakh, along with the registration and insurance charges. The car will attract registration tax of around ₹1.05 lakh and insurance charges of around ₹45,000. In addition to this, the buyer will have to pay around ₹10,000 as TCS charges. This brings the on-road price in Delhi to ₹12.10 lakh.

If you purchase the Volkswagen Virtus' base variant, the Comfortline, the bank will finance the ex-showroom price. After making a down payment of ₹2 lakh, you will have to finance approximately ₹10.10 lakh from the bank. If the bank lends you ₹10.10 lakh for seven years at 9% interest, you will have to pay a monthly EMI of only ₹16,251 for the next seven years.

If you take a car loan of Rs 10.10 lakh from the bank for seven years with an interest rate of 9%, then you will have to pay an EMI of Rs 16251 every month for seven years. In this case, in seven years, you will pay around Rs 3.55 lakh as interest for the base variant Comfortline of Volkswagen Virtus. After which the total price of your car including ex-showroom, on-road and interest will be around Rs 15.65 lakh.

Virtus is brought by Volkswagen in the mid-size sedan car segment. In this segment, it competes directly with cars like Skoda Slavia, Hyundai Verna, Honda City.
