NMDC Nagarnar Pellet Plant Completed: 2 MTPA Capacity, 135km Slurry Pipeline and Project Details
NMDC Limited has commissioned a 2 million tonne per annum (MTPA) pellet plant in Nagarnar, Chhattisgarh, as part of an integrated project worth ₹5,427 crore. The plant will better utilize iron ore fines from the company's Bailadila mines and is connected to a 135 km long slurry pipeline, facilitating transportation.
NMDC Limited has completed its 2 MTPA pellet plant at Nagarnar, Chhattisgarh. This is a part of an integrated project costing ₹5,427 crores and comprising iron ore beneficiation, slurry pipeline, and pellet production facilities. This project links NMDC's iron ore mine operations in Bacheli with the steel plant in Nagarnar. NMDC Limited is the largest producer of iron ore in India and is one of the nine Navratna PSUs in the Ministry of Steel.
This project consists of a new iron ore processing plant at Bacheli, 15 MTPA slurry pipeline, and 2 MTPA pellet plant at Nagarnar. This 135-km-long slurry pipeline would take the iron ore concentrate from Bacheli to Nagarnar, offering an alternate to road transportation.
These plants shall enable NMDC to beneficiate the fines and slimes generated by the Bailadila iron mines into concentrate and then process the concentrate into pellets. The pellet plant uses 'straight grate induration technology' for production of pellets for steel making purposes.
