Tata Safari EV Set to Become Tata’s First 7-Seater Electric SUV
TATA Sierra EV: Tata Motors will launch an electric version of its popular SUV, the Sierra, in 2026-27. The company may also introduce the Safari EV and other models alongside it.
In FY26, Tata Motors performed well. The company has established itself in petrol-diesel and electric vehicles. Some of the best-selling models include Nexon and Punch. The newly-launched Tata Sierra model is one of the best in the 4.2- to 4.5-meter SUV class.
According to Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director and CEO of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, the company plans to release the Sierra EV in the second half of FY2026-27. With the launch of the Sierra EV, Tata Motors can increase its market share in the 4.2- to 4.5-meter SUV range.
The Sierra EV will play a crucial role in sustaining Tata's position in the electric vehicle market. Tata's EV market share was 40.2% in FY2026, and the company's total sales surpassed 250,000. Tata's EV portfolio now includes the Harrier and the new Punch EV.
