Australia Announce Playing XI for Adelaide Test, Cummins and Lyon Return
Australia playing XI announced for the Adelaide Test: Australia has announced its playing XI for the Adelaide Test with two major changes. Usman Khawaja and Michael Neser have been dropped, while Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon will return.
Following England, Australia has announced its playing XI for the third Ashes Test to be played in Adelaide. Usman Khawaja has been dropped from Australia's squad, while Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon have been recalled to the squad for Adelaide. Michael Neser was the most unlucky of the two Australian players to be dropped from the team following the eight-wicket win at the Gabba.
Cummins revealed the playing XI in a pre-match conference on Tuesday. He himself is returning to the team after five months and will take over the captaincy from Steve Smith. He stated that Khawaja has recovered from a back injury, but the team management has decided to partner Head with newcomer Jake Weatherald, who has been successful in the first two Tests. Josh Inglis will retain his place at number 7.
He stated that Smith missed the Australian cricket team's main training session on Monday due to a mild illness, but is now ready to play. He returned to the nets on Tuesday and continued practicing before the match despite injuring his groin with a flinger while batting.
