Air India apologizes for the delay in the flight to San Francisco, offers to give travel vouchers worth $350 to passengers

Air India has apologised to passengers for the delay in their flight to San Francisco. The company has offered each passenger a $350 travel voucher. Air India's Boeing 777 was scheduled to depart at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, but it took off from the national capital at 09.55 p.m. on Friday, more than 30 hours late.

Passengers had to deal with excessive delays caused by technical faults, poor air conditioning, and a variety of other issues. According to sources, the plane carried 199 passengers. The plane landed in San Francisco at 12.45 p.m. on Saturday, as per Indian time.

Air India Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) Klaus Goersch said in a letter to the passengers, please apologize for the delay in the flight. The flight was delayed due to several technical disruptions and other operational constraints. This letter was written on May 31.

The letter said that Air India has offered passengers a 'travel voucher worth $350' for future travel. Passengers will also have the option to take the equivalent amount of the voucher. It is worth noting that for the second time in a week, Air India passengers had to face trouble due to excessive delays in the San Francisco flight.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Friday issued a show-cause notice to Air India for the inconvenience caused to passengers due to excessive delay in two international flights. Earlier, Air India flight AI 179 from Mumbai to San Francisco, which was scheduled to take off at 4 pm on May 24, departed at around 5.30 pm on May 25.
