The family of a Telangana resident who was inducted into the Russian army is keeping its fingers crossed for Mohammad Sufiyan's early return. Russian authorities had recently agreed to the Indian demand of releasing all those Indian citizens who were fighting for the Russian Armed Forces. PM Modi had raised this issue with President Vladimir Putin during his visit.
Thereafter, Salman, brother of 22-year-old Mohammad Sufiyan of Narayanpet in Telangana, has sought that the process of releasing his brother be expedited. Sufiyan had gone to Russia last November and is working as a support staff in the Russian army. His brother Salman met him a few days ago. He said, "Sufiyan is currently in Ukraine. He is about 70-80 km away from the war zone.".
"Our request is that the release should be quick," Salman said on Sunday. He expressed hope that things will move faster as the Russian side has promised to release Indian citizens who have been misled and sent to serve in the Russian army.
