22 Bangladeshi nationals illegally reached Assam, took shelter in a local person's house; Police arrested them

Assam: South Salmara-Mankachar Police of Assam has arrested 16 illegal Bangladeshi nationals. The arrested people include 7 men, 4 women and 5 children. These people had reached Guwahati by train from Bangalore.

Assam Police has arrested 22 Bangladeshis in two separate operations for illegally entering Indian territory. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma gave this information on Monday. He also informed that five children are also included among those arrested.

South Salmara-Mankachar Police of Assam has arrested 16 illegal Bangladeshi nationals. The arrested people include 7 men, 4 women and 5 children. These people had reached Guwahati by train from Bangalore.

According to the police, the arrested people were planning to go towards South Salmara-Mankachar district. The police got suspicious after which an operation was conducted and they were arrested. According to Amar Ujala, all the suspected Bangladeshis were taking shelter in the house of a local person. During the investigation, the officials have confirmed that they are Bangladeshi citizens.

The Bangladeshi nationals who have been detained were identified as Zakir Sheikh, Mohammad Mahdi Hasan, Rumana Akhtar, Mohammad Rizwan Havildar, Jamal Sheikh, Beauty Begum, Munni Begum, Nusrat Jahan, Rustam Sheikh, Rubel Qureshi and Chand Miyan. Besides them, there are five children.

He stated that in the first operation, Assam Police caught six Bangladeshis trying to enter India. After which they were handed over to the Bangladesh authorities.
