Vaibhav Suryavanshi broke the world record of the current Bangladeshi captain and created history at the age of just 13
Vaibhav Suryavanshi Becomes Youngest Centurion: Playing for India Under-19, 13-year-old left-handed batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi has created history by scoring a century in the first of the two red-ball matches against Australia in Chennai.
Today on Tuesday 1 October, a player of the Indian Under-19 team, Vaibhav Suryavanshi became the youngest player to score a century in any professional-level cricket. He played a brilliant innings of 104 runs in just 62 balls in the first match of the two red-ball series against the Australia Under-19 team at Chepauk. He scored his century in just 58 balls with the help of 14 fours and four sixes. This score is the fastest century scored by an Indian batsman in Under-19 Test matches. After Moeen Ali, who achieved a century in 56 balls in 2005, he is the second-fastest century-scorer in the world.
At 13 years and 188 days, Bihari left-hander Vaibhav Suryavanshi broke Nazmul Hussain Shanto's record. In 2013, at the age of 14 years and 241 days, the current captain of the Bangladeshi team scored a century against Sri Lanka. In his four innings at an average of 7.75, Suryavanshi, who is twelve years old, made his Ranji Trophy cricket debut for Bihar earlier this year.
Suryavanshi shared in an opening partnership of 133 runs in 18.5 overs with Vihaan Malhotra as Australia Under-19 was bowled out for 293. He was eventually run out in the 19th over.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi has also represented teams in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy and Under-19 Challenger Trophy. He was then picked for the Quadrangular Series which also comprises Bangladesh and England.
