US: Now the headquarters of SpaceX and X will not be in California, Musk took a big step after being upset with this law
US: Elon Musk said that the reason behind his decision was the law recently passed in California. He said that this law would force families to leave California for the safety of their children.
Big businessman billionaire Elon Musk is always in the headlines. Now he is discussing his two companies, SpaceX and X. Actually, he has decided to shift the headquarters of both these companies from California to Texas. He himself revealed this on his social media platform X.
Elon Musk announced on Tuesday that SpaceX headquarters and social media platform X would be moved from California to Texas. He said SpaceX is currently headquartered in Hawthorne, California, adding "We're moving it to Starbase, Texas." He added that at the same time, the headquarters of X would no longer be based in San Francisco but be relocated here in Austin.
According to Musk, the reason was that a new law passed in California was signed on Monday by Governor Gavin Newsom.
Under this law, according to school rules, teachers and staff are no longer allowed to tell anyone—the child's parents included—about the gender identity and sexual preference of the child. Proponents say it will protect LGBTQ students living in homes where they're not respected. Opponents say it will hinder the schools' ability to be more transparent with parents.
He said it is because of this law and many other laws that preceded it that SpaceX will now move its headquarters from Hawthorne to Starbase. He went ahead to say, 'I made clear to Governor Newsom about a year ago that such laws would force families and companies to leave California for the safety of their children.'
He added that is why SpaceX's headquarters will be relocated to Austin. Noticeably, this is not the first time Elon Musk has decided to move one of his companies out of California. In 2021, Tesla relocated its corporate headquarters from Palo Alto, California to Austin, Texas. Apart from that, Musk himself moved his house from California to Texas.
