Forget humans, neither penguins were spared by American President Donald Trump when he declared his retaliatory tariff. A chain of barren and uninhabited volcanic islands of Antarctica, with glaciers all over it, has also fallen under the ambit of Trump's retaliatory tariff. The Trump administration has declared the imposition of a 10% tariff on this island.

The island of penguins on which the Trump administration has imposed tariffs is named 'Heard Island and McDonald Island', which is an external territory of Australia. It is one of the most remote areas on Earth. It can only be reached via a two-week boat trip from Perth on Australia's west coast. These islands are completely uninhabited. It is believed that humans last set foot on this island about 10 years ago. Nevertheless, the Heard and McDonald Islands have been included in the list of countries released by the White House on which reciprocal tariffs have been imposed.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese took a dig at the US President on Thursday. He said, "No place on Earth is safe." Heard Island and McDonald Islands are among Australia's many 'external territories', which are listed separately in Australia's tariff list. A 10% tariff will be imposed on goods from there. These external territories are part of Australia and are not self-governing, but they have a unique relationship with the federal government. This area is included in the White House list by the name of Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Christmas Island, and Norfolk Island.
