Start-ups and private companies will conduct 24 experiments in space, a new initiative by ISRO's unit In-Space

In-Space: India's space authority 'In-Space' has launched a new initiative, under which start-ups and private companies will get a chance to experiment in space. These include the germination of seeds in space, catching space debris with a robotic hand, and testing of fuel that does not harm the climate.

India's space authority 'In-Space' has launched a new initiative, under which start-ups and private companies will get a chance to experiment in space. In fact, after launching two satellites on Monday, the PSLV rocket will remain in orbit. Its fourth stage will be used for these experiments. During this, a total of 24 experiments will be conducted, out of which 14 experiments will be conducted by ISRO and 10 experiments by non-governmental organizations.

This initiative includes testing seed germination in space (seeds that grow in summer), the experiment of catching debris in space with a robotic hand, and testing of a climate propulsion system (fuel that does not harm the climate). These experiments will be done in the PSLV Orbital Experiment Module (POEM).

In-Space will provide the necessary technical support and testing facilities to start-ups and private companies for these experiments. The start-ups will get all the necessary equipment and assistance in their projects at the In-Space Technical Center in Ahmedabad. "We are helping the start-ups in doing their experiments, including giving guidance from experts and providing testing facilities," said Rajiv Jyoti, Director of In-Space.

Scientists at ISRO will also be a part of this mission. A project titled 'Crops' undertaken by ISRO will see the germination of various seeds in space. For that, brinjal seeds will be kept in a special container for germination so that their growth can be measured in space.

Ten experiments in this mission will be conducted by private companies. This includes the study of the growth of plant cells, testing of green propulsion systems, and imaging in space by Synthetic Radar (SAR). Besides this, a few other experiments will also include testing communication in space and satellite sensors. IN-SPACe connects the start-ups with retired experts of ISRO so that any technical problem gets resolved. It helps start-ups to achieve success in space missions.
