IT services are at the forefront of jobs being offered in different sectors. Sectors like media and entertainment and education/e-learning have seen a decline. Cities like Indore, Lucknow and Coimbatore are at the forefront of recruitments in startups.

The startup ecosystem of the country has experienced 32% more annual recruitments. In the last three months, there has been a 12% increase. India's organized jobs market remains robust as it has recorded an 18% annual growth.
According to the report, this pace of recruitment has been further strengthened by a 22% increase in new startup registrations in the last one year. There has been a major change in the way startups expand. Growth is no longer limited to major metropolitan areas. Tier-2 cities are also seeing strong expansion.
There is more focus on the recruitment of experienced professionals, demonstrating a strategic approach to sustainability in the long term. IT services take the lead in 32% of startup recruitment, a rise in 2024 to 23%. Hiring in startups in the healthcare sector has risen to 9% from 6%.
Segments including education/e-learning and media and entertainment have contracted. Tier-2 cities have emerged as major startup destinations at a rapid pace with their employment share rising to 31% in April 2025 from 9% in April 2024.
According to the report, Coimbatore, Jaipur, Indore, Lucknow and Bhubaneswar are leading startup hiring. Startup hiring in Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR and Mumbai witnessed a sharp decline, while Chennai and Hyderabad remained stable.
