'No law can stop people from betting and gambling,' why did SC say this while hearing the Betting App case
Supreme Court: The court has issued a notice to the central government. The bench said that betting and gambling are "social perversions" in which people voluntarily indulge.

A petition demanding a ban on online and offline betting apps (Betting Apps Ban) was heard in the Supreme Court on Friday. A bench composed of Justice Suryakant and Justice N.K. Singh heard it. The court served a notice to the government at the centre. The bench stated that betting and gambling are social perversions in which people voluntarily participate.
The court ordered to send a copy of the petition to the office of the Attorney General and Solicitor General so their assistance can be sought in the case. The court stated that you are assuming in your mind that such activities can be curbed through law. People are voluntarily engaging in it. Justice Suryakant stated that the same way we cannot prevent people from committing murder, no law can prevent people from gambling and betting.
Petitioner K.A. Paul claimed that actors, influencers, as well as a leading cricketer, are promoting these apps, attracting youth towards betting. He demanded that it be declared gambling and banned, saying that it is harmful to society.
The petitioner said that I am here on behalf of lakhs of parents whose children died. 1023 people committed suicide in Telangana. Many FIRs have also been registered in this case. He also said that betting apps are having a very bad effect on people.
The petitioner said that no caution was taken in the case of betting apps. Former cricketers of Team India also promoted apps promoting online betting during the IPL.
