Election Commission Sends Voter List Observers to Key States Amid SIR Process
The Election Commission has deployed Special Voter List Observers in eight states, including West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh. These observers will remain in the states until the SIR process is completed and will oversee the addition of eligible voters and the removal of ineligible voters from the electoral rolls. They will hold meetings with state and district-level leaders and assist in the smooth completion of the SIR process.
Due to the delicate nature of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process of the electoral rolls, the Election Commission has introduced Special Voter List Observers in eight major states, including West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh.
Both will be spending at least two days per week within these states. During these times, they will make sure that the names of eligible voters appear on the draft list and that the names of ineligible voters are not included.
According to the Election Commission, the eight states in which they have been deployed include West Bengal, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, and Rajasthan. Four to five observers have been deployed in each of these states. During their deployment, they will hold meetings with state and district leaders of all national and regional parties.
