Mitchell Santner Reacts After New Zealand national cricket team’s Defeat in ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 Final
India vs New Zealand Final: After losing the T20 World Cup final, New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner said, "I am proud of my players for reaching this far. We faced some challenges throughout the tournament, but we thrived at every stage and put on a good show. Even though we lost narrowly, I am proud of the boys."
New Zealand suffered a crushing 96-run defeat against India in the T20 World Cup 2026 title match. As a result, the Kiwis lost their chance to win the T20 World Cup for the first time. In the final match played at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday in India; got first batting and made a score of 255 for 5. In response, the Kiwis were bowled out for just 159 in 19 overs. New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner, who boasted of silencing the crowd in Ahmedabad before the match and breaking the hearts of Indian fans, appears to have lost none of his pride even after losing the title. Instead of pointing out where he went wrong, he expressed pride in his team.
After the match, Kiwi captain Mitchell Santner said, "I'm proud of my players. We faced many challenges throughout the tournament, but we overcame them at every stage and performed well. However, tonight we lost against a very good team, in front of a wonderful crowd. Still, I'm proud of the team."
Regarding the support in India, Santner said, "We usually get great crowds wherever we play. Today, the stadium was a sea of blue. Obviously, we weren't the favorites, but India deserves credit for winning the title on home soil. Winning here always comes with a lot of pressure. I think Suryakumar Yadav and his team should be very proud of their performance."
