MG Motor is preparing to launch the facelift version of the Astor compact SUV in India soon. A new SUV from the carmaker has been spotted ahead of its launch. This SUV is basically based on Astor but runs on a hybrid powertrain. According to media reports, the upcoming Astor may also have a hybrid option.

Pictures of MG VS SUV have been shared widely on social media platforms. This SUV, sold in markets like Indonesia and Thailand, was launched two years ago. It is equipped with a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine, which is as powerful as the one offered by Astor in India.

With a 2.13 kWh lithium-ion battery, the engine can generate around 175 bhp of power and 142 Nm of peak torque. An E-CVT gearbox is used for gearbox functions. Announcing its intention to launch plug-in hybrid cars in India was something that MG Motor previously disclosed.

With its aggressive front end, the MG VS SUV has a closed grille, big air intakes, and streamlined LED headlights and DRL units. In comparison to the Aster, the side alloy designs are marginally different. With the Astor facelift, some of these design cues are anticipated to remain. Upgrades like a dual display, a new gear lever, a new steering wheel arrangement, and more are probably coming to the interior of the upcoming Astor facelift.

Just a few days ago, MG Motor said that it is planning to introduce its first plug-in hybrid car soon. JSW MG Motor India clarified its plans to focus more on new energy vehicles like electric cars and hybrid vehicles in the coming days. The Astor facelift with a hybrid powertrain could be the first step in that direction.
