On Thursday, Mercedes-Benz India launched the Mercedes EQS SUV 450, the first of its two launches for the calendar year 2025. The second is the much-awaited G-Wagon 580. The launch of the Mercedes EQS 450 also comes just after the Mercedes EQS 580 which was launched four months ago in September 2024. The 7-seater Mercedes EQS 580 was launched for Rs 1.41 crore and gets a 118 kWh battery pack. While the top-end, 5-seater version of the all-electric SUV has been priced at Rs 1.28 crore that is all prices ex-showroom. Deliveries of the EQS 450 electric SUV will begin in February.

The Mercedes EQS 450 does not have third-row seats. On the other hand, this luxury electric SUV has a big 122 kWh battery pack. Which facilitates a better range of 820 km on a single charge. It produces 355 bhp of power and 800 Nm of peak torque. According to Mercedes, the EQS 580 is suitable for customers who have big families. Whereas the EQS 450 is specially designed for the ones who keep range at the top among all priorities.

It is no surprise that the 122 kWh battery pack inside the Mercedes EQS 450 is the largest for any electric car currently in the Indian market.

Inside the cabin too, there are not too many differences between the EQS 450 and EQS 580, except that the latter comes with two rows of seats. Nappa leather-wrapped steering wheel, a much larger Hyperscreen which is fast becoming a major highlight in the company's high-end models, memory-controlled seat positions. Also, there is a Burmester 3D surround sound system with Dolby Atmos integration.

The EQS 450 is quite an attractive car being a top-end Mercedes all-electric vehicle. It is slightly wider and marginally taller than its three-row twin though overall length remains the same. Removing the last row of seats means the SUV gets a fairly large cargo space of 651 liters.

But beyond just numbers, Mercedes' EQS 450 particularly wants to underline its styling elements. There isn't much differentiating it from the EQS 580. And so, there are 21-inch, five-spoke alloy wheels, a large closed front grille with the Mercedes tri-star, aero-illuminated running boards, and high-performance LED lighting units at the front and rear.
