All the captains of the Indian Premier League (IPL) teams will arrive in Mumbai this Thursday to attend the important pre-season meeting. As Cricbuzz recently briefly stated, the meeting will take place at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) headquarters in the afternoon. Along with the captains, the 10 teams' managers also have been invited to attend. According to the email the BCCI/IPL management sent to the franchises, the meeting at the Cricket Centre – which is more of a briefing – will last one hour.

Here, the teams will be apprised of the new changes and modifications for the upcoming season. This will be followed by sponsor activities at the Taj Hotel. The session will go on for four hours, culminating in the traditional photo shoot of all the captains. Usually, these meetings and photo shoots are done in the city where the season opener is being held. But this time, the session is being held at the BCCI office, and that suggests there could be something more important taking place than the usual discussion of rules.

The captains of all the teams have been confirmed, with Axar Patel recently being named captain of Delhi Capitals. The other nine captains are: Hardik Pandya (MI), Pat Cummins (SRH), Ruturaj Gaikwad (CSK), Rajat Patidar (RCB), Rishabh Pant (LSG), Shreyas Iyer (PBKS), Sanju Samson (RR), Ajinkya Rahane (KKR), and Shubman Gill (GT).

According to the latest updates received from various camps, most of the captains have reported to their respective teams along with the players participating in the Champions Trophy. Pat Cummins arrived in Hyderabad on Sunday. The Australia captain has promised his availability for the entire season despite the World Test Championship final, which begins at Lord's on June 11 - just two weeks after the IPL final on May 25. The IPL begins on March 22 at Eden in Kolkata, with champions Kolkata Knight Riders taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore.
