Social media company Meta has released its AI-powered video translation feature for Hindi and Portuguese. With this, creators can automatically dub their videos in other languages using their own voice, while allowing viewers to view them in their preferred language. This feature was announced by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg in a video. He stated that Reels translation is now available in Hindi, Portuguese, English, and Spanish, with more languages to be added in the future.

Each translated Reel will display a "Translated with Meta AI" tag to let users know they're watching a video translated by AI. Meta says this feature will not only break the language barrier but also help creators reach a global audience. The company said in a statement, "Many creators want to reach a global audience. Keeping their needs in mind, we launched this feature so they can easily share their Reels in different languages."

This Meta feature recognizes the creator's voice and tone and translates it into another language. This makes the video appear as if the creator is speaking the new language.

Creators can enable lip-syncing so their speech matches the translated voice. Viewers will also have the option to "Don't translate," which will keep the language unchanged. This feature is available to all Instagram public accounts and Facebook creators with more than 1,000 followers.

Meta launched this feature in August with only English and Spanish. Now, with the addition of Hindi and Portuguese, the company is targeting two of its largest markets: India and Brazil. Meta says this will help Reels creators reach audiences in new countries and increase Reels viewership.

Meta said the company is also developing a translation feature for captions and text stickers written on Reels. Users will soon have a new option to "Translate Text on Reels," allowing them to view text in their own language.

In India, where millions of users use Instagram and Facebook, this update could prove to be a game-changer for Hindi creators. Now, Reels will no longer be limited to just one language; they will be narrated in voices in languages across the world.
