Mahindra has announced that it will change the name of its recently launched new electric car BE 6e to BE 6. Because airline company InterGlobe Aviation Limited has objected to the brand rights of the 6E name tag. Mahindra said that although the product is marked as BE 6E, not just 6E, for which InterGlobe has raised the issue. Still, they do not want to get involved in "a distracting and unnecessary conflict".

The automaker has also said in its statement that it will continue to fight the case vigorously in court and will reserve its rights to the BE 6e brand name. Mahindra mentioned that it believes IndiGo's claim is baseless and if left unchallenged, it will set an unhealthy precedent of monopolizing alpha-numeric 2-letter marks.

Mahindra has applied for trademark registration under Class 12 (Vehicles) for the BE 6e as a part of its electric-origin SUV portfolio. The BE mark is already registered with Mahindra in Class 12 and it symbolizes the 'Born Electric' platform that underpins the BE 6e.

The Mahindra BE 6e underpins the Mahindra INGLO architecture, supporting two different battery pack options including a 59 kWh or 79 kWh unit. The pack features Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) chemistry, and Mahindra says that it can charge from 20 to 80 percent in as little as 20 minutes via a 175 kW DC fast charger.

The range of 59 kWh battery pack is yet to be revealed. But, the 79 kWh Battery pack claims to offer a range of 682 km according to the test conducted by ARAI. The smaller battery pack generates 228 bhp of power but the higher version with the 79 kWh battery pack generates 278 bhp of power. The torque output from both versions is 380 Nm.

Other features on the SUV include a 16-speaker music system, automatic parking function, ADAS suite, 360-degree camera, and two 12.3-inch displays for the driver display and infotainment system. The Mahindra BE 6e has been priced starting at Rs 18.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The price for other variants is yet to be announced by the manufacturer.
