ISRO chief told when Gaganyaan mission will be launched; Also planning to send 350 kg rover to the moon
ISRO: S Somnath said during the program that the manned space mission Gaganyaan is likely to be launched in 2026. Also, the mission Chandrayaan-4, which will bring samples from the moon, will be launched in the year 2028.
ISRO chief S Somnath has announced the launch date of the Gaganyaan mission and Chandrayaan mission. S Somnath has mentioned that ISRO will be launching the Gaganyaan mission in 2026. Simultaneously, Chandrayaan mission can be launched in the year 2028. On Saturday, ISRO chief S Somnath attended the Sardar Patel Memorial Lecture program of Akashvani i.e All India Radio.
In the program, S Somnath said that most probably the human space mission Gaganyaan would be launched in the year 2026. At the same time, the mission Chandrayaan-4, which will bring samples from the moon, will also be launched in the year 2028. With this, it is planned to launch the joint mission 'NISAR' of India-America in the year 2025. The Chief ISRO has also mentioned that Chandrayaan-5 mission will be completed along with Japan's space agency JAXA. However, there is still time for this, and it is expected to be launched only after the year 2028.
The ISRO chief said that the Chandrayaan-5 mission would be very important as far as sending humans to the moon is concerned. Under the Chandrayaan-5 mission, the rover that would be sent will weigh about 350 kg. Earlier, in the Chandrayaan-3 mission, the rover sent had a weight of only 27 kg. The lander for the Chandrayaan-5 mission will be prepared by ISRO, while the 350 kg rover will be prepared by Japan.
The Indian Space Agency is planning manned mission to the moon by year 2040. In a programme on Akashvani, ISRO chief S Somnath said India's space sector should be expanded and at present ISRO's contribution to the global space sector is only two percent and the target is to increase it to at least 10 percent in this decade. It is in need of private sector participation and new policies which can ensure entrepreneurship. The ISRO chief said on one such media report, "Many large and small industries have shown interest in investing in the space sector and many things which could traditionally be done only by ISRO are now being done by private industry.
