IndiGo had placed an order for 500 aircraft with Airbus last year, the largest order in the history of aviation. IndiGo CEO Peter Elbers had said in April that the ambitious target was to double the size of the airline by 2030.
IndiGo is steadily enhancing its national network in addition to its international routes. Thirty Airbus A-350-900 aircraft were ordered, the airline had announced earlier on April 25. IndiGo also has the Airbus A-320 and A-321 in its fleet in addition to the ATR. Out of all domestic air traffic in India, 60% is handled by IndiGo. Prospects in less populous cities are being examined by the company. Air traffic in these cities is predicted to rise as a result of improved airport infrastructure and the government's UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) program.
