India Mobile Congress 2023: Reliance introduced Jio Space Fiber, will connect unconnected areas with satellite-based gigabit technology

Reliance Jio has brought a new technology called 'Jio Space Fiber' to connect remote areas of the country. ‘Jeo Space Fiber’ is a satellite-based giga fiber technology, that will connect those remote areas where it is difficult to provide broadband connectivity through the fiber cable.

This service will be available across the country at extremely affordable prices. Jio has displayed this technology at the India Mobile Congress going on at Pragati Maidan in Delhi from 27 to 29 October. The four most remote places of India have been connected by Jio Space Fiber. These include Gir National Park of Gujarat, Korba of Chhattisgarh, Nabarangpur of Orissa, and ONGC-Jorhat of Assam.

This is the third major technology in the connectivity portfolio of Reliance Jio after Jio Fiber and Jio Air Fiber. SES company's satellites will be used to provide broadband connectivity to remote areas through 'Geo Space Fiber'.

That means 'Jio Space Fiber' will now provide reliable multi-gigabit connectivity anywhere and anytime. ‘Jio Space Fiber’ will use innovative and advanced NGSO technology to deliver satellite-based internet services in challenging areas.

Akash Ambani, Chairman, of Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, said, "Jio brought broadband internet to millions of homes and businesses in India for the first time. With JioSpaceFiber, we will cover millions of unconnected people. Online Government, Education, Health, and Entertainment "GeoSpaceFiber will be able to connect everyone, everywhere."

John-Paul Hemingway, Chief Strategy Officer, SES, said, “Together with Jio, we are honored to support the Government of India's Digital India initiative with a unique solution. It aims to provide multiple gigabit throughput per second to any location in India.

Experts associated with the telecom sector believe that 'Jio Space Fiber' has the power to change the face of rural India. Connecting to affordable, reliable, and high-speed internet is expected to bring major changes in the field of education and health in remote areas.

Remote government schools will be able to connect to the internet world through satellite connectivity. There will be significant improvements in the quality of education, as well as a reduction in inequality in education. In these areas, data on primary health care, vaccination, nutrition, and community welfare will be available in real-time, so that local governments will be able to make correct and accurate decisions.
