ICC gave an order after BCCI's objection, now Champions Trophy will not go to POK
India has foiled Pakistan's nefarious plan of taking the Champions Trophy to Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK). PCB wanted to provoke India by taking the trophy to POK but after BCCI's objection, ICC issued an order and banned it.
Amidst the continuing controversy over the hosting of the ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan, the International Cricket Council, ICC, has dealt a strong blow to Pakistan. The ICC has instructed that Pakistan will not take the Champions Trophy to Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK). The order was issued by the ICC after an objection by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The Champions Trophy was also scheduled to be taken around the whole of Pakistan between 16 and 24 November, with plans by the Pakistan government. It was also to be taken to three cities in POK, Skardu, Murree, and Muzaffarabad.
The Champions Trophy tournament is to be held from 19 February to 9 March next year. Its schedule has not come yet. The trophy reached Pakistan on 14 November. This is the first time in the history of ICC that the trophy reached the host country before the schedule was released and preparations are underway to tour it. BCCI has already refused to send its team to Pakistan due to security reasons. There are speculations that the tournament can be held under the hybrid model. However, Pakistan is not ready to adopt the hybrid model. India says that it would like to play all its matches at neutral venues.
On Thursday, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced touring the Champions Trophy across the country. In a statement, PCB said, "Pakistan, get ready. "The ICC Champions Trophy will be toured across the country. It will start from Islamabad on 16 November. Later the trophy will also be taken to Skardu, Murree, and Muzaffarabad.
While, in fact, three cities mentioned in the list form part of PoK, the cities mentioned are with a definite aim through their intended implication. It was to provoke India on this pretext, but BCCI got the smell of their evil intentions and succeeded in getting those stopped by registering its objection with the ICC.
