Hyderabad: Drunk student runs over pedestrian with speeding car; taken into custody by police
Hyderabad: The man was thrown high in the air after being hit by a speeding vehicle, police said. The accident was captured on CCTV cameras.
A 38-year-old security guard was killed when a student allegedly drove a speeding car in an inebriated condition in Gajularamaram, Hyderabad on Sunday. A police officer from the Jeedimetla police station said the incident took place around 6.15 am when the security guard was walking on the road.
The man was thrown high in the air after being hit by a speeding vehicle, police said. He died on the spot. The accident was captured on CCTV cameras. The officer said the 20-year-old second-year degree student driving the vehicle has been taken into custody in connection with the accident.
He said breath analyzer tests conducted on him revealed that he was allegedly driving the car in an inebriated condition. At the time of the incident, five of his friends were also in the car. According to the video footage, none of the people in the car got down to save the pedestrian. Everyone was seen running away from there, frightened by the incident. The injured died on the spot.
