Google will delete data of billions of users; Fine of Rs 65 crore was imposed for tracking in private mode

Google has agreed to delete billions of data to settle a lawsuit. Google has collected this data by tracking users in private mode. A heavy fine has also been imposed on Google in this matter. Terms of the settlement were filed Monday in Oakland, California federal court and require approval from U.S. District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers.

This agreement could be worth up to Rs 65,017 crore, but its estimated value is more than Rs 41,676 crore. Although users can sue Google individually for damages, the company is not paying any damages in this case. 2020 saw accusations against Google for tracking users even when they were using Google Chrome and other Google apps in private mode, or incognito.

Since 2016, Google has been engaged in this endeavour. One user claimed that Google improperly tracks users who have their Chrome browser or other browsers set to "private" browsing mode, thanks to Google's analytics, cookies, and apps.

It is generally believed that searching in the private mode of any web browser does not create search history and you are not tracked, but this is not the case with Google Chrome, even though Google has been fined heavily for this. However, the company denies this allegation and says that it is very honest about collecting data through private mode.
