Five people, including a child, died after their car fell into the Visvesvaraya canal in Mandya, Karnataka. Mandya Police informed that the rescue operation was started after the police received information.
Mandya sub-divisional officer Nandish told news agency ANI, "As per the information we received, they had attended an event in Mysore. The bodies of the deceased will be sent for post-mortem. We have informed their families." "As per our information, they are all relatives."
Police said, "All the victims were residents of Tiptur in Tumkuru district of Karnataka. They were residents of Gungarahalli in Tiptur, Tumkuru, but all were living in Bhadravati." The victims were identified as Chandrappa, Krishnappa, Dhananjay, Babu and Jayanna.
