First glimpse of 2025 MG Astor surfaced, will enter soon with Hybrid Engine
The new generation of updated Astor or ZS may get hybrid technology. Apart from the new hybrid powertrain, MG Astor will also get a comprehensive design overhaul. This compact SUV will now get a sporty look similar to some global models like MG3 and MG HS. MG Astor is expected to get a dual-screen setup for infotainment and instrument cluster.
The next-generation MG Astor has been teased ahead of its global launch. Called MG ZS globally, Astor holds an interest in hybrid technology given to the new generation Astor or ZS. A recently come-up spy video shows 'Hybrid+' badging at the rear.
The revised MG Astor Hybrid+ will be powered by a self-charging hybrid system. Here, similar to the MG3, the setup will be based on an Atkinson cycle petrol engine and an electric motor. There's a new hybrid system—a 1.83 kWh NCM lithium-ion battery pack.
Besides the hybrid powertrain, another major update of the MG Astor is going to be the comprehensive design revamp. The compact SUV is aimed at sportier styling, just like some global models like the MG3 and HS. Outer changes will include a key highlight of a new front fascia with new LED headlamps and a grille, besides newly designed bumpers and air intakes.
Other updates in the exterior styling include updated alloy wheels, tail lamps, and rear bumpers. The company has also stated that refinement in the chassis of the Astor has taken place to return better driving dynamics.
The MG Astor is supposed to come with a dual-screen setup for its infotainment and instrument cluster. Other features that the refreshed MG Astor is expected to have are power-adjustable front seats, a 360-degree camera system, wireless charging, and ADAS with new functionality.
According to reports, this new state-of-the-art MG Astor, or MG ZS will come to the European market in September 2023. It is also said to reach Indian shores in 2025. Unlike the outgoing model, the new generation MG Astor will rival compact SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Citroen Basalt, and Tata Curvv.
