England won the second T20I against New Zealand in Christchurch by 65 runs. With this, England has grabbed the initial 1-0 lead in the three-match series, as the first match was abandoned because of rain. Spinner Adil Rashid was instrumental in the visitors' win, picking four wickets. The third and final T20I of the series will be held in Auckland on October 23rd. Following that, both nations will play a three-match ODI series.

England, having lost the toss and opted to bat first, managed to score 236 runs for 4 wickets in 20 overs. The team had lost JacobBethell (24) and Jos Buttler (4) by the 68th score. From there on, captain Harry Brook, along with Phil Salt, set England up for a good position by registering a 129-run partnership for the third wicket.

Harry Brook was dismissed for 78 runs in 35 balls, including 5 sixes and 6 fours, while Phil Salt scored 85 runs in 56 balls, including 1 six and 11 fours. Kyle Jamieson took two wickets for England, while Jacob Bethell and Michael Bracewell took one wicket each.

Chasing the massive target, New Zealand were bowled out for just 171 runs in 18 overs. The team had lost two wickets by the score of 18. From here, Tim Seifert (39) tried to revive the Kiwis by adding 69 runs for the third wicket with Mark Chapman, but New Zealand faltered after Chapman (28) was dismissed.

Meanwhile, captain Mitchell Santner played a quickfire innings of 36 runs in 15 balls, but could not guide New Zealand to victory. For England, Adil Rashid took 4 wickets for 32 runs in 4 overs, while Luke Wood, Brydon Carse and Liam Dawson took 2 wickets each.
