Pakistan Lose WTC Points After Historic Defeat to Bangladesh national cricket team
PAK vs BAN 2nd Test: Shaheen Afridi's altercation with captain Shan Masood in the dressing room after Pakistan's defeat in the first Test against Bangladesh has proved costly for him. Shaheen has been dropped from the playing XI for the second Test, which began today in Sylhet.
Pakistan is going through a difficult time in its cricket team. Following their loss to Bangladesh in the first Test match, Pakistan also lost their WTC points due to the over-rate. Before the second Test in Sylhet, a major issue has come up regarding Shaheen Afridi and the Pakistani Test skipper Shan Masood. It is being reported that both veterans had an argument in the dressing room. Consequently, Shaheen will not be in Pakistan’s playing XI for the upcoming second Test match.
According to Telecom Asia Sport, the atmosphere in the dressing room was already charged following the Mirpur defeat. In the first Test match, Pakistan needed 268 runs in their fourth innings, but they managed only 163 runs. This came after they were 119/3 at one stage. This was their third consecutive Test defeat against Bangladesh.
The report states that after the defeat, Shan Masood openly questioned the performance of Pakistan's fast bowlers, particularly Shaheen Afridi, who averaged only 132 kph. Shan was unhappy with the lack of intensity in his pace attack and reportedly told him in the dressing room that they failed to create pressure due to a lack of speed, which was a matter of concern.
