Electric cars take about 3 to 4 hours to be fully charged, but now this will not happen. Now the electric car will be fully charged in just 5 minutes. Actually, China's electric car manufacturing company BYD has announced its new Super E-Platform 1000. This platform supports a 1,000 kilowatt (1 megawatt) charging speed, which is the fastest charging speed to date. The advantage of this technology is that by charging an electric car for just 5 minutes, it can be driven for up to 400 kilometers. That is, charging the car every second will give a range of more than 1 kilometer. BYD's Super E-Platform works and its features are as follows:

  • Fast charging speed: BYD Super E-Platform offers a 1,000-kilowatt charging speed (BYD Super E-Platform 1000), twice the charging speed of Tesla's 500 kilowatts. Because of this, users will wait the same amount of time at charging stations as it takes to fill up petrol-diesel in ICE vehicles.
  • Blade battery technology: Here, BYD's blade battery has been used, which offers faster charging through the assistance of speedy ion transfer and minimal resistance. The novelty of this battery is that it supports a 10C charging multiplier, i.e., the battery gets filled in just 6 minutes.
  • New EV models: It will first be used to power BYD's two new EV models, Han L car and Tang L SUV (BYD Electric vehicles). Presales of the vehicles have already started in China and will be launched sometime around April 2025.
  • China's high-speed charging network: BYD is going to install more than 4,000 super-fast charging stations in China, which will be backed by this new platform. The charging stations will be supplemented with energy storage facilities by the company.

BYD's Super E-platform can prove to be a game changer not only for China but also for the global electric car market. In the global market, this will reduce the worry of charging electric vehicles and it can challenge companies like Tesla, especially in terms of charging speed.
