Mercedes-Benz Recall: Mercedes-Benz India has issued a voluntary recall for the current generation of Maybach S-Class in the country. It is being said that the company will contact customers individually and make corrections.
Mercedes-Benz India has issued a voluntary recall of Maybach S-Class in the country for the current generation. The German automaker has recalled 386 units of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class due to a problem with the vehicle's engine control unit (ECU) software. These units were manufactured between April 29, 2021, and January 27, 2024. Meanwhile, one unit of Mercedes-Benz S-Class manufactured on April 21, 2021, has also been recalled due to the same problem.
According to the details shared with SIAM, Mercedes-Benz said that the ECU software may not meet the current specifications. The carmaker said that outdated software can cause an increase in exhaust temperature. Which can damage surrounding components including the engine wiring harness, catalytic converter, and others. This can also lead to a decrease in propulsion without any prior warning. While an increase in the risk of fire cannot be ruled out.
Mercedes-Benz has not yet released any official statement. It is being said that the company will contact customers individually and make improvements, which should include software updates. The Mercedes-Benz S-Class and Maybach S-Class are the flagship saloons of the brand. Whose price starts at Rs 1.77 crore for the S-Class. While the Maybach S-Class starts at Rs 2.72 crore. All prices are ex-showroom.
