Bengal: 'Attempt to spoil the relationship between me and CM', Governor hits back at Education Minister's comment

Regarding operational irregularities in state-run universities, West Bengal Education Minister Bratya Basu had called Governor CV Anand Bose "strange." A day after the Education Minister made this remark the Governor took action. Anand Bose stated that he had previously endorsed the minister's suggested names for interim vice-chancellors before making such remarks.

Governor CV Anand Bose said that Bratya Basu's allegation is an attempt to spoil the relationship between him (the Governor) and the Chief Minister. Aiming the Education Minister, he said, "Bratya Basu called me strange and said that I am suffering from Alzheimer's. This is at a time when the HG accepted four names for interim VCs as per the wish of the HCM as suggested by the minister. Was."

HG feels that the Minister is spoiling the relationship between HG and HCM. HG respects HCM. The Education Minister has also accused the Governor of taking irrational and disproportionate steps regarding the functioning of state universities.

Responding to this, Anand Bose issued a statement on Wednesday night saying that he is committed to protecting the autonomy of these institutions against government interference. He said the Vice-Chancellor, who is the head of the university, has the authority to have direct contact with the VC without involving additional officials. The VC also has the same right.
