Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus has captured the US Open Tennis Championship title. Second-seeded veteran player defeated Jessica Pegula of America 7-5, 7-5. The match lasted for one hour and 53 minutes. The leading Sabalenka 3-0 in the second set had to face a tremendous comeback of Pegula who almost captured the third set, winning five games on the trot. However, Sabalenka did very well and won the next four consecutive games to get her first US Singles Open trophy.

Second seed Sabalenka became the first woman to secure both hard-court majors in the same season since 2016. The previous record was from Germany's Angelique Kerber, who lifted the titles of both the Australian Open and the US Open. With this title, Sabalenka can also be crowned the 'Queen' of hard courts and big events.

Her last two big titles came on the Australian Open hardcourt, held in January this year and in 2023. Regarding the majors, 11 of Sabalenka's 13 titles have come on hard courts. The number two seed has won 12 straight matches on hardcourts, two weeks ago when she won the Cincinnati Open. There, she beat Pegula in the final. Sabalenka will remain No. 2 of the world, and Iga Swiatek, who lost in the quarterfinals, won't be dethroned from the No. 1 ranking. Pegula may not have won a trophy, but she'll reach a new WTA career-high ranking due to the best major event of her career so far: The American will jump three spots to third in the world on Monday.
