Arvind Kejriwal surrounded by anti-incumbency factor, how successful will this attempt be; BJP attacked
Arvind Kejriwal: Ever since Arvind Kejriwal got bail, he has been seen to be particularly active. He is constantly inspecting the roads with Chief Minister Atishi Marlena and promising to get it fixed. On Sunday, all the ministers of the Delhi government held a special meeting and decided that now all the ministers would come out on the streets of Delhi. Wherever the roads are bad, they will work to get them fixed.
Assembly elections will be held in Delhi after only four months. This election is going to prove to be a 'tough Agni Pariksha' for Arvind Kejriwal, who has emerged as invincible in Delhi politics since 2015. In 2015 and 2020, his image was of an honest leader and he was getting the benefit of it, but this time there are many serious allegations against his government including the liquor scam. He will also have to deal with the anti-incumbency factor arising from ten years of rule. Will Arvind Kejriwal be able to deal with the anti-incumbency factor?
This time, ever since Arvind Kejriwal got bail, he has been looking particularly active. He keeps inspecting the roads with Chief Minister Atishi Marlena and promising to get them fixed. On Sunday all ministers of Delhi government had a special meeting and decided that now all the ministers would come out on the roads of Delhi. Wherever the roads are bad they will work by getting them fixed.
Shortly, all the MLAs of the Aam Aadmi Party can be ordered to come on the roads of their respective areas and get the broken roads repaired. Along with this, many more such efforts can be undertaken so that the image of the government improves among the common public.
This time, after coming out of jail, Arvind Kejriwal made Atishi Marlena the Chief Minister. Many reasons were given behind this, but one important reason was that due to the liquor scam, the Aam Aadmi Party has been successful in reducing the direct negative impact on Arvind Kejriwal. How successful this method of weakening the anti-incumbency factor will be, will be known only after the Delhi Assembly elections.
It is the case of the free electricity-water scheme that had emerged very popular amongst the poor. That has become the biggest strength for Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi. But now, the numbers benefiting from this scheme in Delhi have gone drastically down. People have to pay bills starting from Rs 1500 to Rs 2000 despite the government's claim of 200 units free. The reason is PPRC and increased rent. Similarly, there has been a sharp increase in commercial electricity rates. This may affect the popularity of the party which it had gained by giving free electricity and water.
It's being termed as to build the image of the Delhi government so it could deal with the factor of anti-incumbency. BJP attacked this strongly on the government. The party has said that the government only wants to deal with the anti-incumbency factor by pretending to work in the last moments but it is not going to affect the public.
Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva said that Atishi Marlena's government is behaving like a weak student who does not study throughout the year but wants to score good marks by studying more at the time of examination. But such efforts are never successful. The same will happen with the Delhi government. He said that the Delhi government has lost its credibility among the public and the public is ready to remove it from power.
