Apple’s Budget MacBook Could Cost Around ₹63,000 in India
An affordable laptop from Apple has long been rumored. However, it now appears that this rumored model could be introduced in 2026. This information comes from a recent note shared by a market research firm. It is expected to target the entry-to-mid-range laptop segment. Let's find out the details.
Rumors have long been that Apple plans to unveil a non-flagship model of the MacBook to take on competing brands in the budget-friendly laptops category. According to a recent note shared by a market research firm, this model could finally launch in 2026. It is expected to feature a 12.9-inch display, similar to select iPad Air and iPad Pro models, and will slot below the MacBook Air in the Cupertino-based tech giant's lineup.
According to recent results shared by market research firm TrendForce, Apple will launch a 12.9-inch MacBook in the spring of 2026, sometime between March, April, and May. It is expected to target the entry-to-mid-range segment of laptops. Mass production of laptop components was previously expected to begin by Q3 2025, with assembly of the entire ecosystem beginning before the end of the year.
The research note suggests that supply chain efficiency, scale advantages, and competitive pricing could help the low-cost MacBook attract buyers and maintain consistent shipment performance.

According to previous reports, the alleged MacBook could feature a 12.9-inch screen, making it the smallest display MacBook in Apple's lineup. For reference, Apple's smallest screen MacBook currently available is the 13-inch MacBook Air.
The laptop will be available with the A18 Pro chipset, which is the same as the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max. The Apple Silicon processor has a hexa-core cpu and gpu processing, as well as a 16-core neural engine, just like the Macbook air with the m1 processor. According to the report, the lower-cost MacBook will come with 8GB of RAM. It may also lack several standard Apple features, such as a Thunderbolt port. Instead, it is said to have a simple USB Type-C port, which will support slower data transfer speeds and external display limitations.
Like MacBook Air and MacBook Pros, the budget MacBook may come in a couple of attractive colors, such as blue, silver, pink, and yellow. This device may carry a price label of between $699 (approximately 63,000 Rupees) and $799 (approximately 72,000 Rupees) in America, which is up to $300 (approximately 27,000 Rupees) cheaper compared to the MacBook Air.
