ADR files petition asking SC to direct Election Commission to release voting data within 48 hours of voting
The Association for Democratic Reforms has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking direction to the Election Commission to upload the complete polling station-wise data on its website within 48 hours after voting for each phase of Lok Sabha elections. The ADR has sought direction from the Election Commission panel to upload copies of recorded votes of all polling stations.
In a Supreme Court petition, the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) is requesting that the Election Commission upload all polling station-specific data to its website 48 hours following each phase of the Lok Sabha elections.
In its 2019 PIL, ADR has submitted an interim application requesting that the Election Commission panel instruct all polling places to upload copies of their Form 17C Part-I recorded votes right away.
The ADR said, "The Election Commission is required to provide tabulated polling station-wise data and constituency-wise tabulated data in the complete data of the number of votes recorded in Form 17C Part-I after each phase of voting in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Give instructions."
ADR has said that the petition has been filed to ensure that the democratic process is not affected by electoral irregularities. Let us tell you that the Election Commission released the data 11 days after the first phase of voting (April 19), while the second phase of voting (April 26) released the data 4 days after the voting.
