Winter Flight Schedule 2025: IndiGo Dominates with Over 15,000 Weekly Flights

Good news for air passengers worldwide. The 2025 Winter Flight Schedule has been notified, with around 6% flights added this time. The new flight schedule will come into effect from October 26, 2025, to March 28, 2026. As per the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), 26,495 flights will operate weekly this season, while last year it was 25,007. This implies that the passengers will have more flight choices, improved route connectivity, and quicker travel services.

Four new airports have been included in the winter schedule of this year: Amravati (Maharashtra), Hissar (Haryana), Purnia (Bihar), and Rupsi (Assam). These airports will have regular flights, and passengers can now travel on new routes. However, flights from some airports have been temporarily suspended, including Aligarh, Moradabad, Chitrakoot, Bhavnagar, Ludhiana, Pakyong, and Shravasti. In total, flights will operate from 126 airports this year, compared to 129 in the summer schedule 2025.

The DGCA states that the increased number of flights will help control ticket prices and provide greater flexibility in flight timings and options. Winter typically sees an increase in air traffic, as it coincides with the holiday and festival season. In response, airlines have expanded their flights to meet the growing passenger demand and provide better service. This new schedule will bring significant relief to smaller cities and enhance connectivity to the eastern and northeastern regions of the country.

The Winter Schedule 2025 brings significant relief to small and medium-sized cities across the country. The launch of new flights will improve air connectivity between eastern, northeastern, and central India. Services, particularly from new airports like Purnia (Bihar) and Rupsi (Assam), will provide travelers in these regions with better and more affordable air travel options, which is expected to boost local business and tourism.

IndiGo has maintained its dominance in the Winter Schedule 2025. This time, it has been approved for 15,014 weekly flights, making it the country's largest domestic airline. Air India has been approved for 4,277 flights, AI Express for 3,171 flights, SpiceJet for 1,568 flights, Akasa Air for 1,027 flights, Star Air for 538 flights, Alliance Air for 520 flights, Fly91 for 196 flights, India One for 126 flights, and FlyBig for 58 flights. These figures clearly show that IndiGo has once again maintained its largest share in the domestic market, while other airlines are also expanding their networks through new routes and services.

Compared to the summer schedule, the number of flights has increased by 3.46%. While the approved number of flights per week in SS25 was 25,610, the winter schedule has now increased to 26,495. SpiceJet has seen the biggest jump, with flights increasing by 26.45% compared to the summer schedule. IndiGo, Star Air, and India One also performed well. In contrast, AI Express, Akash Air, and Air India saw a slight decline in their flights.
