Vivo's new foldable phone launched with 50MP periscope telephoto camera

The Vivo X Fold 5 is a book-like phone with a folding mechanism, launching on Wednesday in China. It has a flexible inner screen measuring 8.03 inches and a cover screen measuring 6.83 inches. The two screens are created using the 8T LTPO panels, which can have up to a local peak brightness level of 4500 nits. The phone's dimensions and heft have been decreased when compared to the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro. It features a triple Zeiss-supported rear camera system and dual 20-megapixel front selfie cameras. The Vivo X Fold 5 allegedly achieves IPX8+IPX9+IPX9+ and IP5X dust and water resistance standards.
The Vivo X Fold 5 is priced at CNY 6,999 (roughly Rs. 83,800) for the 12GB + 256GB option and CNY 7,999 (roughly Rs. 96,000) for the 12GB + 512GB variant. The higher-end 16GB + 512GB and 16GB + 1TB variants are priced at CNY 8,499 (roughly Rs. 1,02,000) and CNY 9,499 (roughly Rs. 1,14,000), respectively. The phone is offered in Green, White, and Black colour options. It will be available in the country from July 2 through the official e-store and select e-commerce websites.
The Vivo X Fold 5 features an 8.03-inch 8T LTPO main flexible inner display and a 6.83-inch 8T LTPO outer screen. The panels support a 120Hz refresh rate, 4500 nits local peak brightness, high-frequency PWM dimming rate, TÜV Rheinland Global Eye Protection 3.0, and Zeiss Master Color certifications. The handset is powered bythe Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, the same processor that was also given in the previous Vivo X Fold 3 Pro. It offers up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS4.1 onboard storage. The foldable phone comes with Android 15-based OriginOS 5 OS.
