Chinese Researchers Say New 6G Technology Could Transform Future Connectivity

This new system produces high-quality white light using a laser. Data is transferred through this light. Scientists have stated that this engine primarily emits light in the yellow light region, between 500 and 650 nanometers.

However, it lacks red components, which currently prevents it from achieving the same color accuracy as natural sunlight. Furthermore, its speed is still lower than that of fiber optic networks. To further improve this engine, the team plans to research light-emitting materials that can accelerate data transmission.

The scientists also want to combine the laser system with radio-frequency systems to provide internet service even in bad weather. The Chinese news agency Xia said AI-based technology can automatically adjust data rates. This will create a future 6G network that will be fully connected and highly reliable across space, air and land.

Current 5G networks act like highways, transferring data at very high speeds, but 6G networks will go much further. Future 6G networks could be embedded in smartphones, streetlights, and other devices. These networks will not only transfer data but will also be able to sense and respond to surrounding activities.

Furthermore, with the help of low-Earth orbit satellites, 6G networks could provide high-speed internet even in difficult areas such as deserts, oceans, and mountainous terrain.
