The Indian women's cricket team suffered a major setback ahead of their Women's Asia Cup 2024 match against the UAE. Shreyanka Patil, a star all-rounder, suffered a finger injury while fielding against Pakistan in Dambulla. A medical examination revealed a fracture in her finger, forcing Shreyanka to withdraw from the tournament. Tanuja Kanwar, a left-arm spinner, has been added to the team as her replacement. The defending champions, led by Harpreet, will look to win their second consecutive Asia Cup against UAE today.

Actually, Shreyank Patil's left ring finger was injured while catching a catch during Pakistan's innings. She bowled in the match even after the injury. Shreyank took two wickets for 14 runs in 3.2 overs against Pakistan. Shreyank also suffered an injury on the same finger during the Women's Premier League, due to which she could not play many matches.

Now after a medical examination, a fracture in Shreyank's finger has been confirmed, due to which she is out of the entire tournament. In her place, left-arm spinner Tanuja Kanwar was included in the team and was among the 4 reserve players. Tanuja Kanwar also performed brilliantly in the Women's Premier League. Kanwar took 10 wickets in 8 matches. She became the highest wicket-taker for Gujarat Giants.
