Five people lost their lives due to drowning when their vehicle overturned near Sikatiya Ajay Barrage in Chitra police station area of Deoghar district this morning. Told that this accident happened due to a selfie in a moving vehicle. Police sources said five people died when their Bolero went out of control and fell into the canal near Sikatiya Canal. The dead include a husband and wife, an infant, a one-year-old child, and a young man.
Police said the accident occurred when a family member, an engineer by profession, started driving to take a selfie and lost control of the SUV. All of them were going from Asansol village of Chitra police station area to Bansdih of Giridih district. During this time, the driver lost his balance on the vehicle and the Bolero broke the roadside railing and fell into the deep water of the canal located near the barrage.
By the time people came to know about this accident and were evacuated, everyone had died. It is being told that Manoj Chaudhary, a resident of Asansol village of Chitra police station area, had bid farewell to his daughter and the daughter and son-in-law were to go to Sakhon village of Giridih district, but due to drowning in the canal, the daughter, son-in-law, grandson, granddaughter and driver of the same family died.
