Star footballer Neymar Jr's COVID-19 test came positive, home quarantined as soon as symptoms appeared
Neymar Jr tests COVID-19 positive: Neymar Jr has been infected with COVID-19 for the second time. Earlier, he had a COVID-19 infection in May 2021 during his time at Paris Saint-Germain.

Brazilian forward Neymar Jr has tested COVID-19 positive and is currently undergoing treatment. This information was given by his club, Santos, in a statement on Saturday.
According to the statement issued by the club, Junior Neymar had to suffer from a viral infection on June 5 (Thursday), after which he was evaluated by the medical department of the club, Santos FC. After this, laboratory tests were done, and COVID-19 was confirmed. Since Neymar Jr started showing symptoms on Thursday, the player had to stay away from sports activities, and he is resting at home and taking symptomatic treatment prescribed by the doctor.
Neymar has contracted COVID-19 twice. Previously, while playing at Paris Saint-Germain, he had contracted COVID-19 in the month of May in the year 2021. On his previous occasion, it had taken four months for him to recover from the COVID-19 outbreak and to resume playing football. The 33-year-old has lost his form ever since leaving the club in the year 2023 and is now playing at his boyhood club, Santos.
Neymar Jr. is Brazil's record goal scorer with 79 international goals. However, injuries have shortened his career to a great extent. His last international appearance was in a 0-2 defeat against Uruguay in October 2023, where he was carried off on a stretcher due to injury.
He has since missed the Copa America 2024 and has also been left out of Carlo Ancelotti's squad for the ongoing World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay.
