Sri Lanka defeated New Zealand by good score; Know -how Team India will reach the semi-finals now

On Saturday, New Zealand women's team defeated Sri Lanka by 8 wickets in a one-sided match in the 15th match of the Women's T20 World Cup 2024 played in Sharjah. After this win, the team has taken the third position in the Group A points table after Australia and India. Australia is certain to go from this group, but all three of India, New Zealand, and Pakistan are still in the running for the semi-finals despite their 4-4 points from 3-3 matches. Australia will be the opponents of India in their final game, while Pakistan will play New Zealand. The winners of both games will move on to the next round; the matches will resemble virtual quarterfinals.

On Saturday, in Sharjah, the captain of the Sri Lanka team chose to bat first after winning the toss. The team didn't get off to a good start, but they managed to score 115 runs in 20 overs with the help of captain and opener Chamari Atapattu's 35 runs. Amelia Kerr and Leah Kasperek took 2-2 wickets for New Zealand. 

New Zealand started off pretty well chasing 116 runs. However, they received an early blow at the score of 49, as Suzie Bates got dismissed after scoring 17 runs in 22 balls. After this, thanks to a brilliant half-century by Georgia Plimer and Amelia Kerr's 34 runs, New Zealand won the match scoring 118 runs in 17.3 overs. This is the second win by the Kiwi team, they have now gathered 4 points in 3 matches.
