South African captain Temba Bavuma returns in the Test series against Sri Lanka

Due to an elbow injury, South African captain Temba Bavuma could not play in the two-match Test series against Bangladesh. However, he is now ready to return to competitive cricket soon. In fact, he will once again be seen on the field for the South African team in the upcoming two-match Test series against Sri Lanka.

Temba Bavuma has been an important middle-order player for the South African team. His return to the South African team is considered very important in terms of reaching the World Test Championship final to be held at Lord's next year. All-rounder Marco Johnson and fast bowler Gerald Coetzee have also returned to the team.

In this regard, South African team coach Shukri Conrad said, “We have selected the strongest possible team to stay competitive and keep our hopes alive of making it to the final of the World Test Championship. We have selected a 14-member team instead of the usual 15 to give the players who are under selection an opportunity to play first-class cricket for their respective provincial teams.
